About

Waleska Antunes is a curator and audiovisual translator.

With 10 years of experience in the audiovisual field, she has worked in curatorship, video and text editing, production/executive production, and audiovisual translation.

She has worked as a production assistant for festivals such as Olhar de Cinema and the Ecrã Experimental Film Festival, as well as a curator of retrospectives and special programs dedicated to filmmakers such as Rogério Sganzerla and Stan Brakhage. She is currently curator of the Lumen Film Festival – Rio de Janeiro Independent Film Festival, film programmer at SESC/PR was part of the selection and curatorship of short films program at the Festival de Brasília de Cinema Brasileiro.

She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Cinema and Audiovisual from the Universidade Estadual do Paraná, where she was an undergraduate research fellow funded by Fundação Araucária in the research line Cinema and Immigration; a postgraduate specialization in Audiovisual Preservation and Restoration from the Sociedad por El Património Audiovisual and is a Master in Arts in Literature student at the Universidade Federal do Paraná, in the research line Literature and Other Languages.

She is a staff writer for Multiplot! Cinema Magazine and was a participant in Berlinale Talents Press Rio (2024) and Press Residency of the Tiradentes Film Festival (2025), both as a film critic.

In 2023, she directed and edited her first short film, terra incognita, which had its world premiere at the Millennium Film Workshop (USA) and its Brazilian premiere at the Olhar de Cinema Festival, in the Mirada Paranaense section. In 2025, she made her debut as editor and film editor of the feature film The World of the Dead, directed by Pedro Tavares, at the Tiradentes Film Festival (in the Olhos Livres section).

She lives in Curitiba, Paraná with Harun, her cat.
